Koan is a jazz quintet based out of Northampton, Massachusetts. The group’s trumpet player, Ian Behrstock, is the grandson of Frank Coolidge who passed in May. Among many other things, Frank was a pianist and a lover of jazz. Koan will be playing music the Ian wrote for his grandparents as well as Frank’s favorites by Duke Ellington and Fats Waller.
