DESCRIPTION:On view June 1 – July 13\, 2024.  \nINHERITANCE\n: the acquisition of a trait from past generations\n: a valuable possession that is a common heritage from nature\n \nINHERITANCE is a joint show between Sebastian Ambrus Kiss and Mercedes Lucia Kiss\, father and daughter. It is a conversation between their styles\, subjects\, and stories. The pieces – many being shown to the public for the first time – span oceans and landscapes\, figures and fantasies\, an immigration and a generation.\n\n \nFor the Kisses\, art and architecture distinguish their ancestry. Creative expression was the first communication\, the native language. Artistry is the energy coursing through the family tree\, and their creations bond the branches.

SUMMARY:Village Nursery School -  Children's Art Show
DESCRIPTION:Village Nursery School (VNS)\, located in Harvard\, MA\, is a small\, private\, non-profit preschool educating children ages 2-5.  We focus on a child-centered approach and plan our curriculum around literature and children’s books.  Teachers thoughtfully plan their art projects from the inspiration they get from the wonderful books their classrooms focus on. \nVNS has a long standing tradition of displaying the artwork that the students create throughout the year.  This art show has evolved over the years\, first beginning with a famous artist unit in a pre-k classroom.  It soon became a school-wide event with all the classrooms displaying artwork for families to see. Most recently\, it was an outdoor art walk around the VNS property.   \nWe are thrilled to be showcasing the children’s artwork at Fivesparks this year. We hope you enjoy viewing this amazing work created by our 2-5 year old students. \nOpen to the public Tuesday-Thursday\, May 14-16 during Fivesparks Open Hours (10am-4pm).

SUMMARY:Exhibit: Natural Inspirations - Paintings by Barry Van Dusen
DESCRIPTION:On View:  April 6 – May 25  \nPublic Reception:  Sunday\, April 14\, from 3-5pm \nBarry Van Dusen is an internationally recognized artist living in central Massachusetts. Barry has illustrated many publications for the Massachusetts Audubon Society\, and his bird illustrations have appeared in books published by the American Birding Association\, HarperCollins\, Princeton University Press and Cornell University (Comstock). His book FINDING SANCTUARY was published by Mass Audubon in 2020.  \nThis exhibition showcases his watercolor paintings of New England birds\, wildflowers\, insects and other animals.  You’ll find New England landscapes here too and a special group of paintings from his travels around the world. Some of these pictures were painted on location\, while others were created in the studio.  Related ‘mini-exhibition’ feature his field sketches and book illustrations\, and a special selection of pictures by some of his European colleagues. \n150 of Barry’s watercolors and field sketches are included in a new book\, “A Year of Birds: Writings on Birds from the Journal of Henry David Thoreau“\, available from the Thoreau Society. \n\nDrawing & Painting\nNature Workshop\nwith Barry Van Dusen \nSaturday\, April 27: 10am-4pm \nIllustrated Talk: The Making of a Field Artist\n\nwith Barry Van Dusen \nSaturday\, May 18: 4-5pm
