SUMMARY:Dialogues in Dual Languages: Artists and Poets Converse
DESCRIPTION:When people speak in different languages\, how do they develop empathy and understanding? When the world is full of noise and misinformation\, how do we learn to listen and to hear each other? “Dialogues in Dual Languages: Artists and Poets Converse” presents thirteen pairs of visual artists and poets in collaborations that seek to illuminate\, advance\, reflect\, and resonate with one another. In some cases\, poets have responded to their partner’s painting or 3D object. In others\, visual artists have created a new piece in response to a poem. Some visual artists and poets have designed a new project together\, giving voice to emotion or theme that resonated for both. \nWhile artists and poets both employ form\, pattern\, and structure\, artists work in matter\, in materials that occupy space\, whether two- or three-dimensional\, engaging the viewer’s visual and sometimes tactile senses. Poets speak in breath\, in sonic devices\, in words that have duration and exist in time\, whether appearing on a page or spoken\, engaging the viewer’s visual and/or auditory senses. These differences spark creative dialogue and discovery for the artist and the poet as well as the viewer. \nArtist and Poet Pairs: \nCal Wenby & Tom Daley\, Connie Saems & Wendy Drexler\, Felice Mendell & Deborah Leipziger\, Lillian Hsu & Sarah Dickenson Snyder\, Linda Hoffman & Jennifer Jean\, Leslie Goldman & Cynthia Bargar\, Matt Carrano & Tom Laughlin\, Nedret Andre & Cheryl Clark Vermeulen\, Phyllis Ewen & Denise Bergman\, Sheryl Jaffe & Frances Donovan\, Shira Karman & Ilene Rudman\, Tanya Hayes Lee & Vivian Eyre and Xiaoly Li & Alexis Ivy \nOn view through July 18\, 2026. \nJoin us for an Art and Poetry Stroll with some of the participating artists and poets on July 18\, 2-4pm.  \nView or download the Gallery Booklet. \n

SUMMARY:Adult Improv Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Improv is the act of making up a scene\, plot\, characters and dialogue spontaneously without preparation. Actors work together to create a scene\, often based off a suggestion from the audience\, without rehearsal or discussion beforehand. Studying improv involves a “retraining” of the brain to learn to work in the moment\, accept ideas from a team member and allow the creativity to flow and create something marvelous. Because improv is done “in the moment” it often takes a silly or wacky turn\, and there’s plenty of laughing! When you create improv scenes\, you never know where the mind will take you. This improvisation workshop is designed to challenge and inspire participants to stretch their brains and limits. A great class for both the seasoned performer and those new to the world of theatre who are looking to try it out. \n3 workshops will be held. One each in April\, May\, and June (4/20/2026\, 5/18/2026\, & 6/8/2026).  There is no fee for the workshops\, however registration is required. See below for registration link. \n \nThis class is being offered free of charge to participants through a generous grant from the Harvard Cultural Council\, a local agency\, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency. \nREGISTER FOR ONE OR MORE SESSIONS HERE
